About the EFCT Externship Berkeley 2026

The EFCT Externship Berkeley 2026 is a 4-day immersive training designed for therapists and graduate students who want to help couples reconnect and create lasting emotional bonds using Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT). This training is the foundational step toward ICEEFT certification and provides practical, experiential skill development grounded in attachment science.

Participants will:

  • Learn the theoretical foundation of EFCT and how secure attachment underlies adult love.
  • Identify negative interactional cycles that drive disconnection and distress.
  • Access and deepen emotionally vulnerable moments in couple sessions.
  • Observe live and video demonstrations of EFCT in action.
  • Begin integrating EFCT interventions into clinical practice with increased confidence.

This externship combines lecture, live demonstration, video review, and experiential exercises to support both new and experienced clinicians in building effective couple therapy skills.
