Deepen Your EFT Practice with Expert Trainers

Join us for a powerful four-day Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) Externship with Dr. Paul T. Guillory and Dr. Robert Allan. This immersive training, endorsed by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), provides a solid foundation in the EFT model developed by Dr. Sue Johnson.

Through live demonstrations, experiential learning, and in-depth case analysis, you’ll explore how to help couples move from distress to secure emotional connection. This training includes a special focus on culturally responsive practice, making it ideal for therapists working with diverse communities.

What You’ll Learn

• The theoretical foundation of EFCT and the science of adult attachment
• The EFCT change process, including the “EFT Tango”
• How to identify and track negative cycles that keep couples stuck
• Core interventions to help clients access, regulate, and express emotion
• Live and recorded couples therapy sessions
• Experiential exercises for skill-building and confidence
• Working multiculturally and with marginalized identities

Each day includes a 1-hour lunch break and two 10-minute breaks.

Meet Your Trainers

Dr. Paul T. Guillory

Dr. Guillory is a licensed clinical psychologist, Associate Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and a certified EFT Supervisor and Trainer-in-Training. He is the author of Emotionally Focused Therapy with African American Couples: Love Heals, and brings over 30 years of experience to his work with individuals, couples, and families.

Dr. Robert Allan

Dr. Allan is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Senior Lecturer at the University of Colorado Denver, and an ICEEFT-certified EFT trainer. His research and clinical expertise center on minority stress, relational diversity, and multicultural applications of EFT.

Who Should Attend?

This externship is ideal for licensed therapists, pre-licensed clinicians, and graduate trainees interested in integrating EFCT into their work. Completion of this training meets the ICEEFT requirement for core EFT externship hours.

Continuing Education
